Laguna Beach PD to Shut Down North Coast Highway Next Week for a Night

The purpose of the highway closure is to facilitate a digital mapping project related to the multi-vehicle fatal traffic collision that occurred on Jan. 26.

From the Laguna Beach Police Department: 

North Coast Highway (SR-1) in Laguna Beach will be closed in both
directions between 9 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. Wednesday July 9.

The northbound lanes of SR-1 will be closed beginning just north of Irvine Cove Drive in Laguna Beach and ending just south of Crystal Cove State Park-El Moro Canyon. 
The southbound lanes of SR-1 will be closed beginning at the intersection of SR-1 and the entrance to El Morro Elementary School, and ending just north of Irvine Cove Drive in Laguna Beach. 

Irvine Cove residents will have unimpeded access to the entrance and exit points of their community. Officers expect to have the roadway fully reopened 

The purpose of the highway closure is to facilitate a digital mapping project related to the multi-vehicle fatal traffic collision that occurred on Jan. 26. Both directions of the highway must be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic to accommodate the mapping project.

Motorists are encouraged to utilize alternate routes. 

The Police Department will send out multiple traffic alert reminders beginning July 7th.
