LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Have you dreamed of becoming a Laguna Beach Police Officer? Now is your chance.

The Laguna Beach Police Department seeks enthusiastic, career-minded individuals to assist in the patrol and enforcement of municipal and State codes within the City as a full-time Beach Patrol Officer.

This position requires a valid and current P.O.S.T. P.C. 832 Certificate or P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate from a California law enforcement academy. In addition, a valid Driver's License and the ability to obtain a California Class C License prior to the end of probation is required.

Selected candidates will undergo a structured panel interview and skills assessment developed to predict successful job performance. Prospective Beach Patrol Officers must also successfully pass a police background check (including a polygraph examination), fingerprint check with the Department of Justice, a pre-placement physical (includes pre-placement drug testing), and a psychological examination.

Under the supervision of the Civilian Services Administrator or, in his/her absence, the Police Department Watch Commander, the Beach Patrol Officer interacts with City residents and visitors at beaches and parks to enforce various City and State Codes, rules, and regulations in a professional and courteous manner.

This position also assists with traffic control duties. Applicants possessing relevant work experience, including extensive public contact work and customer service skills, are highly desirable.
