From porch package theft to the mantra, "if you see something, say something," LBPD give residents something to think about.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Do you do your shopping online? Chances are, as many Laguna Beach residents do, your home could be a target for porch package theft.
Some ways that you can keep your purchases safe:
- Asking neighbors who are home during the day to keep eye out for deliveries.
- Learn what security services are available from your chosen -courier.
- Consider insuring items to be mailed.
- Report suspicious persons in neighborhood.
- Consider sending packages so that a recipient signature is required.
That being said, keeping an eye on your neighbor's property, and follow the "If you See Something, Say Something rule of thumb."

Even at the beach, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department spokesperson.
"Enjoy going to the beach, but always be aware of your surroundings and keep alert," they said. "If you see something say something."

How to Identify Indicators
The following are a few examples to help you identify a questionable object or behavior:
- An unattended bag, briefcase or box in a public venue
- Someone drawing or measuring important buildings
- Strangers asking questions about security or building security procedures
- Cars or trucks left in No Parking Zones in front of important buildings or venues
- Unusual smells or smoke that worries you
- The purchase of supplies or equipment that can be used to make bombs or weapons
How To Report It
- Reporting to the authorities is simple. First find your local police department by clicking here. Then follow these steps: - Give specific details about what you saw and when it occurred - Give the exact location of where the activity occurred
- For imminent threats, always call 9-1-1
- DO NOT take direct action, confront anyone, reveal your suspicions or touch an object. Just contact the authorities.
What not to report?
The See Something, Say Something campaign does not promote:
- Spying on others or making judgments based on a person’s race, ethnicity, national origin, or religious affiliation.
- Residents are encouraged to report situations and behavior as possible terrorist or violent acts
- Residents are discouraged from reporting beliefs, thoughts, ideas, expressions, associations or speech unrelated to criminal activity.
