Laguna Beach Stolen Car Chase Wakes Neighborhood, 2 Arrests Made
Residents in Laguna Beach were awoken by a circling helicopter, swarms of police vehicles in this North Laguna neighborhood.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — North Laguna Beach residents in the area of Locust Street and Monterey Drive found themselves at the end of a car chase Sunday night.
Police arrested two people suspected of stealing a car and evading police, with one suspect still outstanding, according to Lt. Jim Cota of the Laguna Beach Police Department.

At 10 p.m., Laguna Beach Police alerted residents of police activity in the area of Jasmine Street, Monterey Drive and High Street. Residents were told if they heard anything suspicious to dial 911.
Residents learned that police were seeking three people in a stolen car that had been identified while driving on Laguna Canyon Road, residents told Patch.

A Huntington Beach police helicopter joined in searching for three individuals as officials ordered residents in several north Laguna neighborhoods to stay indoors.
The helicopter was seen circling the area of the Festival of Arts Amphitheater, neighbors told Patch.
Police followed the car to an alley off Monterey Drive, between Locust and Jasmine Street, where two suspects were arrested just before midnight.
One suspect remains outstanding, according to Cota.
