Laguna Beach Unified Hires New Facilities Director

Director will oversee LBUSD district's facilities planning & construction, as well as the maintenance and operations of existing facilities.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Ryan Zajda as director of facilities effective July 17. Zajda replaces Jeff Dixon who was promoted to assistant superintendent of business services in April.

Zajda has served as director of construction in Irvine Unified School District since 2013. He oversaw $300 million in construction public works contracts during his tenure, ensuring that all construction projects met district standards. He earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Southern California in Civil Engineering.

“I am enthusiastic for the opportunity to work at such an outstanding school district, and I am committed to continued excellence in the development and maintenance of safe, effective school learning environments,” said Zajda.

Zajda’s diverse background and experience, which includes engineering, general contracting, and public school planning and maintenance made him the top choice for the position.

“We are very fortunate to have such a highly qualified candidate like Ryan join our team here at LBUSD. I am looking forward to continue improving our facilities services under Ryan’s leadership, and we are all excited to have him with us,” said Jeff Dixon, assistant superintendent of business services.

Zajda will oversee the district’s facilities planning and construction, as well as the maintenance and operations of existing facilities and staff supervision.
