Laguna Beach's Crystal Cove Closed Sunday Due to Old Military Device

A smoke emitting marine marker was the cause of a seven hour beach closure at Treasure Cove, in Crystal Cove State Park, Sunday June 26.

A section of Crystal Cove State Park was evacuated and closed off Sunday afternoon when an old military device was discovered on shore.

California State Parks District Superintendent Todd Lewis discussed the device that was found between noon and 1 p.m. in the Treasure Cove area of the beach.

The cylindrical smoke emitting "marine marking device''was 16 inches long and three inches by diameter.
