Laguna Beach's Fairy Garden: Photos Of The Week

Laguna Beach's fairy garden is one of the bright spots of this beautiful creative community. Look inside, and see if you can't find a fairy!

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — There are magical things happening in the Laguna Beach fairy garden right now. Spring is right around the corner and we are getting ready for the butterflies to return. The yellow cassia is already blooming. The nasturtiums are coming up. Jessica deStefano, the garden's tender invited Patch to see the garden through her eyes.

"I have cut back the milkweed so that there will be fresh green leaves for the monarch butterflies come March and April," she said.

What's more, the fairies have been doing spring cleaning and a few new fairy houses can be seen in the garden.

"Children that come to visit the library often stop by the fairy houses to leave notes for the fairies," deStefano said. "The fairies write them back."

Recently, 9-year-old Tessa Durand made a little house for some of the fairies.

"She is hoping a fairy will take up residence in the one bedroom Popsicle stick bungalow," deStefano said. "It comes equipped with a ladder to the upper deck and a separate outdoor picnic table for two."

deStefano is a volunteer, who pays for most of the plants and fairy houses out of her own pocket.

"To me the garden is a magical place," deStefano said. "But it sure does help when people donate to help me with its upkeep."

Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so by mailing their donation to:
