Laguna Canyon Road Shut Down In Both Directions After Crash Downs Line

Traffic was at a standstill after the busy roadway was shut down Tuesday evening.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Drivers, be aware: Laguna Canyon Road was closed in both directions Tuesday evening, with officials anticipating closures through the night and an onslaught of bumper-to-bumper traffic through the area.

The closure was reported shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday evening after a crash closed the roadway between Canyon Acres and El Toro.

The crash resulted in a downed power line which is currently being serviced by Frontier, city officials said. It was not immediately clear how many were involved in the crash, and no injuries were immediately reported.

"Frontier has arrived on-scene to repair the downed pole," the Laguna Beach Police Department said via Nixle. "Expect traffic delays for the next 6 hours while repairs take place."

Residents were strongly urged to avoid the area and plan for alternate routes.
