Los Angeles Business Journal recognizes three HNTB leaders with "Women Making a Difference" awards
Tamara Werkmeister, Carmen Suero and Liz Young of HNTB Corporation honored for outstanding achievements in business
The Los Angeles Business Journal recognized three HNTB leaders at the 2015 Women Making A Difference Symposium and Awards ceremony in downtown Los Angeles on May 4. Carmen Suero, LEED AP BD+C, Tamara Werkmeister and Liz Young, AICP, were honored among a select group of nominees chosen for their business achievements.
In its 23rd year, the annual awards celebrate Los Angeles County women who lead by example, demonstrate effective business vision and positively impact the world of business and their communities.
“We are very proud that Liz, Tamara and Carmen have been acknowledged for their outstanding professional and community accomplishments by the Los Angeles Business Journal and congratulate them on this well-deserved honor,” said Michael Palacios, HNTB Southern California district leader. “They are talented professionals and serve as role models for other women in our industry.”

HNTB honorees include:
Carmen Suero, LEED AP BD+C, is a senior designer at HNTB with responsibility for the development of transit station architecture. She is currently working on the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, which is an 8.5-mile light-rail line through southwest Los Angeles with eight stations.

As HNTB associate vice president, Tamara Werkmeister is a dedicated professional with over 25 years of Southern California business development experience. She led the development and implementation of the pursuit strategy for the City of Los Angeles’ Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project, which is the largest bridge project in the history of Los Angeles.
Liz Young, AICP, is associate vice president and principal transportation planner with 17 years of diverse technical experience in corridor and regional planning, alternatives analysis and evaluations, and multimodal transportation planning studies. Her unique combination of proven technical experience, strong leadership and project management skills are an asset to major infrastructure projects currently underway in the region.
