2 Shot, 1 Arrested After Shots Fired Near South OC Community Center

The suspect was arrested Sunday after two people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds Saturday night, authorities say.

LAGUNA HILLS, CA — A man was arrested Sunday afternoon after two people were shot near the Laguna Hills Community Center, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

The suspect was only identified by authorities as a man. No other information about his identity was released.

Sheriff's deputies were sent to the area of Alicia Parkway and Paseo De Valencia in Laguna Hills at 10:06 p.m. Saturday in response to a shooting. KTLA reported that the shooting occurred at a quinceañera party, but that could not immediately be confirmed.

"This evening, at about 10 p.m., deputies responded to the Laguna Hills Community Center in reference to a report of gun shots being heard," the Orange County Sheriff's Department said in a statement.

Two people were found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to a local hospital and neither their identities, nor their conditions, were known as of Sunday night.

The shooting was not considered a mass shooting event or active shooter situation and there was no threat to the surrounding community, OCSD Sgt. Frank Gonzalez told the Orange County Register.

Residents with information to assist investigators were asked to call OC Sheriff's Dispatch at 949-770-6011 or send anonymous tips to OC Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
