LAGUNA BEACH, CA — What is your New Year's resolution for 2020? For many, it's getting up and getting active. But there is no reason for you to spend the money on joining a gym in Orange County! not when the great outdoors is beckoning from Orange County Parks.

The OC Parks folks shared their January 2020 Events Calendar for all OC Parks venues with Patch, including regional, wilderness and historical parks, sites, and beaches.

Some highlight activities this month include:

  • January 4 - Wilderness Access Day at Black Star Canyon Wilderness Park
  • January 4 - Modjeska's Holiday Open House at Arden: Helena Modjeska Historic House and Gardens
  • January 5 - Santiago Oaks Guided Nature Hike at Santiago Oaks Regional Park
  • January 18 - Irvine Regional Park Fishing Derby at Irvine Regional Park
  • January 18 - Star Light, Star Bright Night Hike at Carbon Canyon Regional Park

Start right away in Laguna Beach on January 2, with a Fitness Hike at Little Sycamore from 8:30 – 11 a.m.

"Raise your heart rate and your spirits on this difficult, strenuous and fast-paced, 7.2-mile
hike (1050-ft. elevation gain) over very steep, uneven terrain with Laguna Canyon
Foundation volunteers," OC Parks says.

Special Instructions: This is a fitness hike; pace is approximately a 19-minute mile. For
ages 15 and up. Ages under 18 are welcome with a signed waiver from a parent.
