No Shade In Laguna Beach: City Bans E-Z Ups, Canopies From Beaches
The City of Laguna Beach has tightened its reigns on what kind of shade it will allow on its many beaches.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Tourists and travelers looking to visit the Laguna Beach will have to do so will a new rule in mind, after the city banned E-Z UPs and canopies from its many beaches.
The ordinance was introduced in April and bans several types of shade options, such as tents and canopies, from certain locations on Laguna Beach beaches.
According to the city, the ordinance was passed due to the fact that large shade coverings can make it difficult for lifeguards to see the ocean and maintain access to the beach.

"We don't have a problem with them coming to the beach, we just want to make sure everyone on the beach is safe and we have adequate line of sight," Council member Alex Rounaghi said at the April meeting.
Violations, the city said, may result in fines up to $500.
