Known as "Mamie" to her close friends and family, she was a fixture of Laguna Beach for 54 years and could often be seen waving from her beachfront balcony or displaying one of her American flags.
The Coastline Pilot city editor succumbed to pancreatic cancer Wednesday morning. She was 60.
The legendary civic activist, a.k.a. "Mr. Laguna," was 98. Services will be held this Saturday at Laguna Presbyterian.
