Packages Pirated From Laguna Beach Homes Found In Stolen Car

LAGUNA BEACH, CA— A car load of pilfered packages was discovered overnight in Laguna Beach, authorities say.

At 2:30 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 800 block of Bluebird Canyon Drive to find a vehicle burglary in progress.

Officers found the stolen car "speeding down Diamond Street," Lt. Jim Costa said.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered two adult males and a juvenile inside.

"A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located several pieces of mail from residents in Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach, along with several packages," Costa said. All three were taken into custody for several misdemeanors and felonies.

"With Christmas right around the corner please, please, please LOCK your vehicles and REMOVE your belongings," he said. "Be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious activity. Please also make it a habit to check your mail daily and remove the contents."

The police recommend purchasing a lockable mailbox so your incoming mail is secure. Additionally, if you are shopping online and expecting package deliveries be sure to track the package to anticipate its arrival. If you will not be home when the package arrives ask a trusted neighbor or friend to pick it up for you.
