Pageant of the Masters: the 'Arrested Development' Parody!

"Living Art" can be a real hoot!

Whether you love Laguna Beach's annual or are merely indifferent, you have to admit that on the surface, the idea of flesh-and-bone humans caking on a bunch of makeup, draping themselves in costumes, and holding perfectly still poses as they replicate paintings and sculptures seems a tad ... strange.

Pageant-haters like Maureen S. on Yelp have used adjectives like "cheesy," "outdated," "bored" and "absurd." (Click the link and scroll down to Natalie M., who says "I worked here one summer ... I got hit on by 70-year-old men every night.")

It's also ripe for parody, as anyone who recalls the Arrested Development episode "In God We Trust," in which Michael Cera's character, George Michael Bluth, dons a muscle suit to pose in a recreation of Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam during the thinly-veiled "Living Classics Pageant."
