Pair Found Wearing Stolen Firefighter Gear In Laguna Go To Court

Two people found wearing stolen firefighter gear in the back of a U-haul truck over the summer went to a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A couple is headed to court today for alleged misdeeds committed over the summer in Laguna Beach. Travis Alexander, a 32-year-old Los Angeles resident, and Robin Griffin, a 23-year-old Buena Park woman, were arrested in Laguna Beach Sunday, July 2. Both were dressed in first responder gear, surrounded by drug paraphernalia and hanging out in a stolen U-haul truck on Panorama Drive, according to reports from LBPD Sgt. Jim Cota.

The pretrial hearing is set for Wednesday in Newport Beach. Both Alexander and Griffin are charged with stealing firefighter uniforms and gear.

"Police arrived at a truck where residents had noticed two people sitting inside," Cota said. "The man was wearing firefighter turnout gear and the woman was wearing a Community Emergency Response Team gear."

Upon inspection of the truck, officers saw a methamphetamine pipe and items recently reported stolen from Laguna Beach homes.

"Upon further investigation, detectives found that a firefighter vacationing in Laguna from a city in Los Angeles County reported that his firefighter uniform and equipment was missing," Cota said.

The U-Haul was reported missing for more than a month.
