Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car In Laguna Beach Thursday Morning

A 33-year-old pedestrian suffered fatal injuries when a vehicle collided into him on Laguna Canyon Road, police said.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A 33-year-old man suffered fatal injuries in a crash with a vehicle in Laguna Beach early Thursday morning.

The crash was reported at around 5 a.m. Thursday in the 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Road, south of the 73 toll road and just east of Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, the Laguna Beach Police Department said.

The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pedestrian was crossing Laguna Canyon Road before sunrise outside of a crosswalk toward a shelter for transients when he was hit by the car, police said.

The crash prompted authorities to shut down outbound Laguna Canyon Road for roughly three hours Thursday morning.
