Police Operation Targeting Speed, E-Bikes Sees 129 Citations
The effort was led by the Laguna Beach Police Department this past weekend.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A city-wide effort to address speed violations, loud and modified exhaust systems and electric bicycle & motorcycle violations saw success in Laguna Beach this past weekend.
The coordinated effort stopped a total of 105 vehicles, resulting in 129 individual violations being cited.
According to the Laguna Beach Police Department, the effort saw the following results:

- 18 citations issued for loud exhaust violations.
- 4 BAR vehicle inspections resulted in 1 vehicle being ordered to the State Referee for emissions violations.
- Loudest reading was recorded at 125 dBA.
- 32 citations for basic speed law violations or exceeding 65 miles per hour.
- 1 driver cited for driving unlicensed or with a suspended license.
- 1 E-motorcycle driver was detained and released to his parents.
"The Laguna Beach Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement and public safety efforts, ensuring that Laguna Beach and surrounding communities remain safe, livable, and responsive to resident concerns," the department said.
