Like A Rainbow In The Fog: Views From Aliso Summit Trail
This unusual weather phenomenon was captured by Orange County resident Deb Franko. Here's what she said when she saw it.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Orange County resident Deb Franko captured this rare sight on Monday during her Aliso Trails walk. A fog rainbow sometimes referred to as a "ghost rainbow," is a rare sight.
She says it felt like a "Walk in the Clouds" morning as she hiked above the marine layer and into the blue sky. To Franko, this was a great way to start the week.
A fog bow, like this one, forms from the small droplets of water inside the marine layer, according to EarthSky.com. Because the water droplets are so tiny, they either have a soft color or are colorless. To see one, you must be positioned in the perfect spot when the sun is 35-40 degrees from your shadow.

Talk about being in the right place at the right time.
Dense, black smoke smothered this same area one week ago, a fact difficult to fathom on a perfect November morning.

"I'm taking everything beautiful in nature as a good sign to come," she tells Patch. "It was awesome to see marine fog when looking out toward Saddleback Mountain, and not fire. I'm feeling very grateful today."
