Resident Interrupts Burglary, Wild Chase Ensues
A Corona del Mar resident came home to find a trio of burglars. The three were arrested after a police chase through Laguna Beach.

A call from a Newport Beach resident reporting a residential burglary in progress resulted in the arrest of three suspects today.
A call was made at 2:17 p.m. reporting a burglary in progress in the 200 block of Evening Canyon Road, according to police. The owner of the home had just returned home and found two men inside. They left in a white Kia sedan along with a person who was already in the car. The car was last seen going north on Evening Canyon Road.
A Newport Beach police helicopter and Laguna Beach police officers on the ground followed the car.

At 2:28 p.m., a car matching the description was seen going north on Laguna Canyon Road approaching Forest Avenue. The Kia sped through a red light at the intersection and when an officer tried to stop the suspect car, the driver took off.
As the chase approached El Toro Road, the Kia collided with a white Toyota Prius, disabling the suspect car.

The sole occupant of the Prius was not hurt.
One suspect got out of the car and tried to flee on foot. He was located in some nearby bushes. Laguna Beach police detained the other two suspects in the Kia.
Arrested were Hugo Fernando Gonzalez, 21, of Los Angeles; Evelyn Yvette Gudino, 26, of Los Angeles; and Anthony Vargas, 21, of Los Angeles.
Property belong to other victims was found in the Kia.
