Burglary Thwarted, Stolen Child's Truck Recovered In Laguna Beach

A tiny power wheels truck was discovered among other stolen items after two burglary suspects were arrested in Laguna Beach, Friday.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Two stolen trucks were found in Laguna Beach this morning, albeit one of them was sized for the smallest of drivers. Suspicious behavior led to the discovery of two burglary suspects, found driving a stolen white pickup truck. The Power Wheels children's vehicle was also found during the recovery of stolen property, according to the Laguna Beach Police Department.

Officers made quick work of apprehending two burglary suspects on Friday morning. Police were called out to Temple Hills Drive for a burglary in progress, according to LBPD Sgt. Jim Cota.

"The two suspects were immediately located," Cota said upon police arrival at the Temple Hills Drive residence.

One suspect was detained by police while another fled on foot. An Orange County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit, who was at the scene of the burglary, followed the fleeing suspected-burglar when the dog bit the suspect, stopping him in his tracks.

"The K-9 officer bit the suspect, without further incident," Cota said. That suspect was arrested.

A child's drive-able toy car was found, and Laguna Beach Police were attempting to find the owner.

It is unclear if the stolen tiny car was from Rialto, Laguna Beach, or somewhere in-between.

Police believe there are only the two suspects involved in the burglary. It was not clear what was taken, or if the stolen items were found in the suspect's vehicle, however officers did note that the truck the alleged burglars were driving was in fact reported stolen. That vehicle belonged to someone from Rialto who reported it as stolen, Cota said.
