Runway Show Returns To Pageant Of The Masters In Laguna Beach

The Festival Runway Fashion Show returns this Aug. 17, with a performance by the Pacific Opera Project taking place the day before.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β€” While the summer prepares to draw to a close, there are just a few more weeks remaining to enjoy the Festival of Arts Fine Art Show in Laguna Beach β€” and festival organizers have two events planned before the final curtain call.

Among those events include the anticipated Festival Runway Fashion Show taking place on Sunday, Aug. 18. Prior the show, festival-goers will enjoy a performance by the Pacific Opera Project on Saturday, Aug. 17.

"We are thrilled to bring back our Festival Runway Fashion Show and introduce the Pacific Opera Project to our community in one fun-filled weekend," Sharbie Higuchi, Festival of Arts Marketing and PR Director, told Patch. "These events highlight the incredible artistic talent and creativity that thrive within our community, and offer something truly special for everyone to enjoy."

The Festival Runway Show will showcase the incredible creativity and talent of participating artists as they challenge themselves to craft each outfit exclusively from recycled, reclaimed and repurposed materials.

Participating artists include: Luciano Bortone (jeweler), Rowan Foley (pencil artist), Jeff Horn (painter), Elizabeth McGhee (painter), Anne Moore (printmaker), Cody Nicely (glass artist), Linda Potichke (jeweler), Nancy Swan (painter), and Sharon Williams (photographer).

The Festival Runway Show takes place at the Festival of Arts on Sunday, Aug. 18 from noon to 2 p.m. and is free with Festival admission.

This year, visitors who bring a gently-used item of clothing to donate to Working Wardrobes will receive free Festival of Arts admission valid for Aug. 18 only.

Prior to the runway show, the Festival of Arts β€” in partnership with the City of Laguna Beach β€” presents the Pacific Opera Project's performance of "The Mikado" on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The performance features colorful costumes, lively performances and a modern twist, organizers said.

The Festival Runway Fashion Show and Pacific Opera Project’s performance are free with Festival admission. General admission is $15, students and seniors are $11, and children 6-12 are $5.
