Sewage Spill In Laguna Beach Leads To Beach Closures

LAGUNA BEACH, CA —

Orange County Health Care Agency has alerted residents and visitors that a section of Laguna Beach was closed due to sewage spill.

The 600-gallon sewage spill occurred due to a private property equipment failure, officials say.

"Ocean water from Sleepy Hollow Lane to Cleo Street is closed to swimming, surfing, and diving due to the sewage spill. OC Health Care Agency posted signs of the closure, Sunday.

In November of 2019, over one million gallons of raw sewage spilled into the ocean, leading to a lengthy closure of El Moro Creek at Crystal Cove State Beach to the Southern point of Dana Strands.

Seal Beach, from the San Gabriel River Jetty to 300 feet down-coast of the San Gabriel River Jetty.

Newport Beach at Abalone Avenue Beach, on the south side of Balboa Island.
As of Monday morning, no other beach closures were reported.
