Shark Tour Added In Laguna Waters

There's no jumping this shark, as tour companies across California capitalize on the growing great white shark population.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — There's something in the water, and it takes a captain who is on the Pacific more than he's on land to show it to you.

Thanks to customer demand, Captain Dave’s Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari will be offering special Shark Safaris to view great white sharks and other sea life.

The Shark Safaris will be aboard Captain Dave’s high-speed, rigid hull inflatable catamaran, Fast Cat according to the tour company.

"This zodiac-style boat offers passengers the closest opportunity of any Dana Point tour vessel to view the apex predators in their natural environment. With a capacity of up to 12 passengers, Fast Cat offers guests a more intimate shark watching experience," Captain Dave Anderson said.

Passengers may record video using their own GoPro on a stick (at their own risk) to film close ups of the sharks.

Fast Cat has passed a series of rigorous U.S. Coast Guard safety inspections to become Dana Point’s only Coast Guard inspected and certified rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB).

Shark watchers will be able to enjoy great white sharks and other wildlife while comfortably seated under a large custom sunshade. And Fast Cat’s high speed engines will get them to the sharks quickly! Shark Safaris will last 90 minutes.

"The inaugural safari will be on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29," Anderson said.

Additional shark watching trips will occur weekly on Friday and Saturday, for a limited time.

Capt. Dave's Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari offers year round, eco-friendly, dolphin and whale watching excursions aboard unique high-tech catamarans with exclusive features including Eye-to-Eye Underwater Viewing Pods.

An award winning filmmaker, author, and whale disentangler, Captain Dave Anderson is a leader in ocean wildlife education and conservation.
