Shooting In Laguna Beach As Cops Confront Suicidal Woman: POLICE

Sunday afternoon, Laguna Beach police confronted a woman threatening suicide.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A suicidal woman armed with a gun was injured in an officer involved shooting Sunday afternoon, according to an LBPD spokesperson.Officers were dispatched tot he area of St. Ann's and Gaviota at about 2:45 p.m. to investigate a report of a depressed woman threatening suicide, according to Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jim Cota.

Details are vague, but Cota said a shooting between officers and the woman occurred at some point after the officers made contact with her. Police rendered aid to the woman and she was taken for treatment to a nearby hospital. Her name has not been released, and her condition is not known. No officers were injured during the incident.

Police blocked off the 100 block of St. Ann's Drive and the 700 block of Gaviota Drive for the shooting investigation. The case will be investigated by Laguna police and the Orange County District Attorney's office.
