Sirous & Sons Rug Gallery, Scene of Alleged Assaults, Is Closed
Former manager has been accused of sexual assaults, which are alleged to have taken place inside the store.
Sirous & Sons Rug Gallery has been cleaned out of its inventory and its doors shuttered.
The store's former manager, Saeid Boustanabadi Maralan, was initially arrested in September and charged with sexually assaulting or raping 11 women inside the shop at 222 Ocean Ave.
A source confirmed to Patch that the store's lease was not renewed when it expired at the end of 2011. It had been in business in the location—the former site of a Big Dogs clothing store—since 2008. The rugs had gradually been cleared out beginning in early December.

On a slightly related note, the store's shuttering coincides with the December closure of two other Laguna Beach rug stores, both of which had been in business since the 1970s: Oriental Rug Importers at 660 N. Coast Hwy., and Khyber Pass at 1970 S. Coast Hwy. Owners of Khyber Pass and Oriental Rug Importers did not have ties to Sirous & Sons.
