South County Couple Charged with Molesting 10-Year-Old

A Laguna man and Lake Forest woman are behind bars for allegedly molesting a young girl for several years.

A man and woman charged in connection with the sexual assaults of a girl, starting when she was about 10 nearly four years ago in Lake Forest, were behind bars today in lieu of $1 million bail.

Gerardo Reyeslopez, 29, of Laguna Hills and Rut Rogel-Morales, 31 of Lake Forest, were charged Tuesday with four counts of sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child 10 years or younger and seven counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, all felonies, according to court records. They made their first appearance in court Tuesday, but their arraignment was rescheduled for Dec. 4.

The alleged offenses date back to December 2011, and continued as recently as last Friday, according to court records.

Further details of the alleged assaults were not immediately available from law enforcement officials.

Roxi Fyad of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office declined to release details of the allegations out of fear of publicly identifying the victim.

Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department, said it was his office’s policy to not comment on cases after charges were filed.
