Suicide Reported At Laguna Beach Hospital

Emergency Staff at Mission Hospital of Laguna Beach were unable to revive a patient, who succumbed to a suspected suicide attempt, Tuesday.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA —A patient at Mission Hospital Laguna Beach may have taken their own life Tuesday, according to reports. Staff of the hospital worked to resuscitate the victim from the apparent suicide attempt, but were unsuccessful.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday morning at the hospital, according to reports from Mission Hospital and Laguna Beach.

"A Rapid Response/Code team initiated all appropriate resuscitation methods but were unsuccessful in reviving the patient. The patient’s name and details related to the incident are not being released at this time out of respect for the family," Mission Hospital spokesperson Deb Franko said in release. "We are deeply saddened by this incident and our deepest sympathies are with the patient’s family, loved ones and the community."

“We are providing on-site counselors for the patient’s family, our nurses, caregivers and physicians," she said.

The hospital has initiated a complete review of the occurrence and are working hand-in- hand with local
and national experts and authorities as appropriate to optimize the care environment.
