Sun City Man Arrested For Burglaries Across Laguna Beach: LBPD
An antique saxophone, bronze statue & a safe full of cash were all stolen from Laguna Beach homes. LBPD arrested man accused of burglaries.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA ā A series of home burglaries across the city of Laguna Beach might have come to a close if the Laguna Beach Police Department have gotten their man. The string of thefts of homes and businesses started July 1 and by July 16 are hopefully at an end.
A 54-year-old unemployed Sun City resident was arrested at gunpoint on Monday, according to LBPD Sergeant Jim Cota.
"Reed Swingley was stopped by Laguna Beach police at 5 p.m. on Sunday on South Coast Highway and Cleo Street," Cota told the Orange County Register.

According to Cota, patrol officers recognized Swingley's car and license plate from surveillance footage taken from a Laguna Beach business that had been burglarized.
āDuring the investigation, officers saw what they believed to be some of the stolen property from these burglaries inside the truck,ā Cota said.

Swingley was taken into custody and interviewed at the Laguna Beach Police Station by detectives according to Cota. A search warrant allowed search of the suspect's van, where the antique saxophone, bronze statue and safe full of thousands of dollars was found, along with other items.
Swingley was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and other theft related charges. He was booked at Laguna Beach Jail and is currently housed at the Orange County Central Men's Jail on $120,000 bail.
Information on how victims can receive their stolen items back has been requested from the Laguna Beach Police Department, however details are not yet made public.
