Swimmer Who Died Off Table Rock Beach Identified
A 46-year-old Dana Point Man was the second swimmer to die off the same stretch of the Laguna Beach coast recently.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A man whose body was found floating in the water off Laguna Beach Saturday has been identified as a 46-year-old Dana Point man. He was the second person to die near Table Rock Beach in a matter of days.
According to the Orange County Coroner's Office, Jeffrey Tregaskes died at 4:15 p.m. Friday at Totuava Beach, which is a hard-to access cove between Table Rock Beach and Thousand Steps Beach. Tregaskes went missing from Table Rock Beach, authorities said.
The search for Tregaskes was suspended overnight Friday, and his body was found Saturday morning.

Eight days prior, the body of Louis Alberto Sanchez, 29, of Bloomington in San Bernardino County, was found 100 yards off Table Rock Beach.
Tregaskes ' death was also the third swimming fatality off the Orange County Coast within a week. Dylan Haihuu Duong, 25, had been found Tuesday, half a mile south of the Huntington Beach pier and was brought to shore by lifeguards, according to Sgt. Dennis Breckner of the Orange County Coroner's Division of the Sheriff's Department.
