Thursday Surf Report

Look for the surf to build a bit throughout the day.

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Laguna Beach Patch surf report.  Well, look for the waves to pick up a bit throughout the day, but also watch for the conditions to worsen sooner than later, due to the next storm which is scheduled to move in at some point later on.

It's starting out pretty clean and glassy.   As far as the waves go...we're seeing some new west northwest swell starting to show and some smaller south southwesterly energy in the mix.

That's delivering some fast sectiony lines, with a few decent ones.  Most spots in Laguna Beach are seeing knee to waist high waves, with the focal points pulling maybe a few plus sets.

At 8:11 this morning the tide drains out to a negative o.1 low which will be mean that many spots are lacking water mid-morning.  The tide then climbs back up to a 3.1 high at 2:48 this afternoon.

If you're going to grab a session, throw on no less than a 3/2 fullsuit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!

FYI...The County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the likelihood of increased bacteria levels especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
