Track Coach Arrested For Having Sex With Teen In Laguna Beach: Police

A 24-year-old Orange County assistant track coach was arrested for sleeping with a 14-year-old girl, police said.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A 24-year-old former assistant track coach was arrested for having sex with a 14-year-old girl, the Laguna Beach Police Department said.

Jonathan Xavier Cabral was arrested on Aug. 14 in his Fullerton home, police said. Cabral formerly worked as a walk-on assistant track coach at Foothill High School in North Tustin.

According to authorities, on July 27, Laguna Beach detectives were notified of the incident by the Culver City Police Department, who were already investigating Cabral.

Detectives from both departments immediately carried out an investigation into the incident, which happened in the City of Laguna Beach, police said.

Detectives soon learned Cabral met a 14-year-old girl online, leading to the two of them meeting for sex and "other lewd and lascivious acts," police said.

He was arrested and charged with statutory rape, meeting with a minor for lewd purposes, possession of child pornography, and numerous other charges. He was released on $100,000 bail.

Detectives believe Cabral may have harmed additional victims.
