Tree Well Improvements Continue In Laguna Beach

Expect to see work to the tree wells on 2nd Street this week, officials said.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Starting Monday, January 28, expect to see your Public Works crew out and about on 2nd Street making both Tree Well Improvements and Tree Health Enhancements, the city said.

The project will serve to enhance all of the tree wells on 2nd Street between Forest Avenue and Mermaid Street.

Concrete and hardscape treatments surrounding the tree roots will be removed and an ADA compliant permeable surfacing will be installed, City Manager John Pietig told us.

The work will alleviate any girdling of the tree trunks, will enhance the air and water permeability of the tree wells, and will remove potential tripping hazards.

The project is expected to be completed by Friday, February 8. For questions about the project, please contact Public Works Deputy Director, Dale Schuck at (949) 497-0735.
