Trial Date Set in Laguna Beach Rape Case
A 28-year-old Laguna Niguel man is accused of raping women in Laguna Beach and Laguna Niguel.

A January trial date has been set for a Laguna Niguel man accused of raping women in Laguna Beach and in Laguna Niguel.
Babak Azadgilani, 28, was scheduled to be in court Monday and again on Thursday for a pretrial hearing on charges that he raped a woman at her home in Laguna Beach and another woman at his home in Laguna Niguel.
According to police, Azadgilani, aka ‘Bobby’ ran into an acquaintance at the beach in April of 2013 and then went back to her house where he raped her. After police asked the public to help find him, another woman came forward to say she had also been raped by Azadgilani.

In the second case, a woman alleges Azadgilani forcibly sodomized her and that when she went to his house in Laguna Niguel to confront him months later, he pulled a knife on her and raped her again.
After a brief manhunt, Azadgilani surrendered to Laguna Beach police. A trial date is scheduled for Jan. 11.
