View Finder: Girls Softball Returns to Laguna Beach High
The Breakers' varsity softball team is back in action with a new field to call home.
After hours of practice, hustling car-wash tickets at fundraising tables and gaining respect by beating experienced rival teams like Corona del Mar in the nonleague portion of their schedule, the Laguna Beach High Breakers' varsity softball team is ready to play ball with skills, confidence and talent.
Following a five-year hiatus because of a lack of participation, the team is back and competing as a junior varsity squad with its new home field constructed at Thurston Middle School. It took a lot of patience and cooperation to make it all come together. Many parents took the effort to make sure the varsity team got off the ground. Phone calls, meetings and constant contact with school district managers needed to happen to secure the new field.
You can check out the Breakers during a recent game against the Santa Ana Saints in this Patch View Finder photo essay. And you can also cheer them on in person— their next scheduled game at Thurston is against Saddleback's JV team in an Orange Coast League contest on April 26 at 3:45 p.m.
