Violent Laguna Beach Home Invasion Robbery Suspect Due in Court

An alleged gang member accused of breaking into a Laguna Beach home and pistol whipping the residents will face a judge Thursday.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA An alleged gang member awaiting trial for a violent Laguna Beach home invasion robbery is expected in court Thursday.

Jyvontaye Demetric Harris, 23, of Los Angeles is due in court for a pretrial in the case from 2012. His co-defendant Tyrone Lamont Beasley pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery with a sentencing enhancement for using a weapon in the crime and street terrorism last year and was promptly sentenced to 19 years in prison.

Harris is an alleged member of the extremely violent South Los Angeles gang (Bounty Hunter Bloods) based out of the Nickerson Gardens housing project.

According to police, Harris and Beasley burst into a Laguna Beach home and brutalized the occupants by pistol whipping them. After terrorizing the group, they allegedly stole a significant amount of jewelry and a cell phone. The incident appeared to be random, and there were no immediate connections between the victims and suspects, said investigators.

However the next month,a Laguna Beach Detective developed a lead tying the robbery to the gang and conducted surveillances on members of the gang.

“During the service of an LAPD narcotics search warrant, one of the Bounty Hunter Bloods was found to be in possession of a cell phone stolen during the robbery,” Laguna Beach Police said in a written release. “This break led to the identification of the two primary suspects.”
