Visual Online Reputation Management & Brand

Manage our visual (photos | videos) online reputation and brand....

According to Laguna Beach DigiFusion Media president, Koz Khosravani, visual online representation is a key component to an individual’s (as well as company’s) online reputation and brand. The images that arise when a person or company is searched can either highlight the positive aspects of the person or might be showcasing negative images (e.g. facebook picture showing you drunk at a party while at college). Additionally without a strong online presence, when searched, a particular company or individual may not show up at all preventing potential customers and possibility pointing them to a competitor that does show up.

The best ways to manage online visual reputations are to, first, search and monitor what images and videos are currently available. This will allow individuals and companies to gauge what, if any, presence they are portraying. The next step is to gather as much virtual real estate as possible so that you can be in control of as much of your online presence as possible. Having as many websites and social media platforms as possible, including photosharing websites, facebook, twitter, youtube, etc. allows you to control what visual media gets attached to your name across a broad spectrum. The more virtual real estate a you own, the more likely others will come across your controlled page rather than a random website.

As an example, you will see on the top page of Google a picture of that is quite negative in nature. Click on it and see what website is showing that picture. If you have control over the site, you can change the picture. If you don’t, you can contact the site webmaster and request (in a gentle and respectful way) the picture to be taken down. If neither methods work, you can create many great sites, blogs and other online entities and slowly push them to the top page of Google so the ‘negative’ site can be overtaken (this method can take some time). Finally, you can hite attorneys to help you if you are facing a potential case of online slander. All in all, remember that that there are both legal and technological methods to help you with your visual online brand and reputation.
