Water-wise, Fire-safe Outreach Continues in Laguna Beach

Over the weekend, the South Coast Water District shared their water-wise message at the SmartScape expo in Laguna Beach. Water-wise tips.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The South Coast Water District met in the City of Laguna Beach over the weekend to share water-wise tips to the city regarding turf and water-wise gardening.

The event served to spotlight the benefits of using climate appropriate plants and efficient irrigation techniques in residential and commercial landscape settings according to event coordinators.

The Laguna Beach County Water District is consistent in their efforts to share how to create both water wise and fire safe landscaping.

"The water-wise garden, established in 2003, grew out of a joint collaboration between the district, the Greater Laguna Coast Fire-Safe Council, and Mike Parker Landscape," the Laguna Beach County Water District website stated.

The garden at the district shows paths lined with over 50 types of colorful, California friendly plants, exotic shrubs and perennials all selected for their suitability to the region, the climate of Laguna Beach, and the benefits of being fire resistant.

District's headquarters located at 306 Third Street in downtown Laguna Beach. The District’s office hours are Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
