Acti-Kare Gives Back with a Community Drive Helping Local Veterans
In-home care provider, Acti-Kare, spearheads donation drive for South Orange County veterans in need.
Lori Renaud, franchise owner and director of Acti-Kare of South Orange County, is excited to announce a spring drive to benefit local veterans. “With Memorial Day around the corner, we want to give back and do something special for our veterans, who gave of themselves so selflessly in service to our country,” said Renaud. “We are calling on the community to help make this drive a huge success.”
Renaud teamed up with Veterans First to launch the drive, focusing on what the agency’s current needs are for their 85 veterans. Acti-Kare will be accepting donations from now until Memorial Day at 25283 Cabot Road, Suite 212, Laguna Hills, CA. Donations may include bedbug vinyl mattresses, twin sheet sets, pillow covers, and comforters.
“We are so thankful for Lori and Acti-Kare helping us with our needs. Right now, what we need the most are bedding items. With 85 veterans living in our facilities, this is an ongoing necessity,” said Master Sergeant Martin Ventress, USAF (Rtd), Executive Director of Veterans First.

Veterans First works to provide services exclusively to the region’s homeless and at-risk veterans. They provide a multitude of services including housing, meals, life coaching counseling, life skills, access to mental health counseling, benefit counseling and transportation. Veterans First also offers job training and employment placement assistance.

According to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, an estimated 39,471 veterans are homeless on any given night. Two-thirds of these veterans served our country for at least three years, one-third were stationed in a war zone, and approximately 1.4 million are considered at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support networks and dismal living conditions in overcrowded or substandard housing.
“We at Acti-Kare are big believers in giving back and getting involved in the community. In addition to helping Veterans First this spring, I am currently helping generate awareness for Alzheimer’s research funding to be included in the 2017 federal budget,” said Renaud. “If this drive doesn’t speak to you, I encourage you to find something that does. The smallest of gestures really can make a difference.”
