Iconic 'Ziggurat' Building In Laguna Niguel Finally Has New Owners, City Says

The U.S. General Services Administration announced the completion of the sale to a Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian affiliate this week.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — A well-known Laguna Niguel landmark has new owners.

The sale of the Chet Holifield Federal Building, informally called the "Ziggurat," was orchestrated by the U.S. General Services Administration.

The administration announced the sale this week.

According to the General Services Administration, the building was sold to Laguna Ridge Health Care Development — an affiliate of Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian.

"The city is pleased to welcome Hoag to Laguna Niguel," Laguna Niguel Mayor Gene Johns said. "This milestone represents an opportunity to build upon the strong foundation of our community through thoughtful civic and commercial reinvestment that can benefit future generations."
