Beachfront Homes Red-Tagged In Dana Point As Powerful Waves Pummel Coast: Report
The powerful surf, due in part to tropical storm Hurricane Marie, caused extensive damage to the coastal homes this week.
DANA POINT, CA — Several oceanfront homes in Dana Point were red-tagged after sustaining extensive damage caused by powerful waves this weekend.
Video footage published by NBC Tuesday morning showed damage to ocean-facing decks and other structures after hours of rainfall and days of high surf.
A representative for the Capistrano Bay District told ABC7 that at least 14 homes were damaged over Labor Day weekend.

The powerful swell also caused damage along the shorelines in Long Beach and Malibu, as well as flooding in Seal Beach.
Roughly 20 homes along the Long Beach Boardwalk were evacuated as high surf conditions continued into this week.

The news comes after high surf and coastal flood advisories were issued to Orange County coastal areas.
Residents should be wary of large breaking waves of six to 10 feet for south and southwestern-facing beaches and four to seven feet for west-facing beaches.
