'Crossing Bridges'

This blog is about my music and life. 'Crossing Bridges' is a song about the importance of friendship and specifically about a special friend in my life.

After finishing ‘Caught in Between’, I began to think about my next song.  Friends have always been a large part of my life and a very positive force.  I was  also thinking about the fact I am going to high school next year and will have my life change significantly.  It is comforting to know my friends are coming along for the ride.

I decided to write a song about my friend, Skyla.  She and I have been best friends since we were five years old.  Even though we are young, we have been through a lot together.  Anxiety, death, and cancer found it’s way into our families during the past 8 years.  I wanted to write a song that confirms that bond of friendship and how important it is during all of life’s changes, as much as everyday life.

I finished the song ‘Crossing Bridges,’ with the help of Dave Woeckener and Per Kjeller, who provided a wonderful musical track for me to work with.  http://www.sidneybowen.com/Music.html.  When the song was finished, I surprised my friend and we sat at the computer and listened together.  It’s hard to put your feelings out there for all to see, especially when it was about someone so special in my life.  Her reaction was just what I wished for and more.  This song is very important to me, as is my friendship with her.  I truly hope everyone has a Skyla in their life.

I am lucky to have many important people in my life.  The one who makes me laugh and has taught me to enjoy life and not take things so seriously, is my Dad.  The result is a song currently in production called, ‘How You Roll’, and I can’t wait for you to hear it...
