Captain Dave Talks Whales, Dolphin Safari and Drone Piloting in Dana Point

Captain Dave, a fixture in the Dana Point community shows his love of both new technology, whale watching and "talking" to whales Dory style

DANA POINT, CA — Captain Dave Anderson, a fixture in Orange County whale watching and entanglement solutions community, is working with the latest technology in order to get the word out to the public about the whales and dolphins that he loves.

More than any other part of his fleet of boats, the new video blog (vlog) and drone that he pilots over pods of whales and dolphins are his greatest new adventure.

"With the remote control, and the goggles, I can fly," he said of his newest toy. "When you are flying a drone, you can actually be in two places at the same time."

The drone camera in the hands of whale lover, whale watcher gives all a glimpse into what Captain Dave's perspective on the creatures is all about.

Underwater viewing cameras have always given a unique perspective on the creatures, but the view from above showcases the majesty of the largest beings on the planet.

For children in Orange County, the ability to go on a whale watching safari is part of growing up. Getting to see a humpback whale come close to the boat to talk like Dory from "Finding Nemo" was something else altogether.

"I'd never seen a humpback whale come that close to the boat before," Anderson said.
