Celebrating the Fireworks of Soul Mate Relationships

As we approach another Fourth of July, I decided to write about something that can bring real energetic fireworks into our lives. That would be the "soul mate connection."

That term is generally used to describe an intense romantic relationship where there is a strong connection and sense of familiarity.  

What Is a Soul Mate? 

Actually, soul mate don't necessarily have to be a romantic interest. Many times soul mates are our family members, friends, and co-workers. In spirituality, soul mates are people with whom we have shared many lifetimes. There is usually karma, which means "the lesson," to be healed or released with the person. There could be major goals to be accomplished, such as a child, business or other creation.  

As spiritual beings, we are constantly evolving and learning about ourselves, the universe and the divine. The key is to be in balance and in peace with ourselves, the world and others. In order to learn to do that, we have to keep meeting "mirrors," or soul mates, to help us to evolve and heal old wounds by seeing our issues reflected back to us.  

Unfortunately the energy stirred up with a soul mate may cause upheaval before it gets better. We hold on to the TV version of soul mates,  which is the couple running through the meadow with birds singing, flowers blooming and butterflies fluttering about. A soul mate challenges us to look within and discover our flaws, along with our innate strength and beauty.  

The Soul Mate Connection

When a soul mate comes into our life we may feel an immediate bond, perhaps a sense of déjà vu or remembrance of them. There may be synchronicity or incredible coincidences that have led up to the connection.  

When you interact with a soul mate, it feels almost chemical—the magical energetic exchange that occurs. There is a flow and electric feeling of being on the same wavelength. Now, there are cases in which the opposite occurs—when there is a dislike and a negative feeling. Either way there are lessons to be learned.  

Types of Soul Mates and Famous Soul Mate Couples

President Obama and Michelle Obama are "working mates." This type of soul mate connection consists of two spirits that have been together in other lifetimes. They may have been married before or had other types of relationships. There is a strong bond between them. Working mates get along well. It is easy for them to grow things—children, businesses and, in this case, political prospects. They show us what teamwork can accomplish and inspire us to forge strong bonds with others as well.  

Prince William and Catherine Middleton, now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are romantic soul mates. They had many lifetimes of being friends and hanging out together. They may have been of the same tribe or family before, as there is connection and friendship that has now grown to include the romantic component. Their easy interaction in such high-profile positions shows a legacy of being around each other. Their gift is to highlight the beautiful aspect of love and to inspire others to obtain it for themselves. In their charitable duties, they reflect the power of giving back to individuals and to the world.  

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are like twin flames. This is a rare type of soul mate relationship that we don’t see much, though I believe more of these will start to happen, as they are very powerful connections. Physically,  Demi and Ashton are different ages. Spiritually they are the same soul group,  with a passion for life and fun with a shared agenda of helping promote a better world. Their desire to be together pushed them to find each other and ignore the difference in age. Twin flames reflect souls who know each other and have tremendous love along with work to accomplish on this planet. They come together despite differences in age, race, sex, religion, culture or social strata.

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston make up a soul mate triangle. This type of relationship is usually karmic, meaning that the triangle is repeating from another lifetime, only with each person playing a different role in the triangle each time. It will repeat until one by one they learn whatever lesson they are working on. The triangle a common romantic pattern, and it promotes intense healing if dealt with on a real level. The reason their interaction sparked so much interest is that the karma they are working on in particular is one that many share—that of "sharing love" and how to do that on planet Earth.  

Calling a Soul Mate Into Your Life

As you can see, soul mate relationships are beautiful yet challenging at times. The important thing to see is that we are all souls on a journey of learning. Begin to recognize that everyone you meet has something to share with you and to teach you, just as you have the same gift for others.  If you want a romantic soul mate, begin to reflect and meditate on the subject. Look within yourself at what lessons or keys you want to work on, and ask your higher self and the universe to send you people who will help you to heal and bring light on the topics in a positive manner.
