Crash Kills Motorist, Shuts Down South OC Street: OCSD

The crash was reported at 7:17 p.m. Thursday and resulted in the death of one motorcyclist, the Orange County Sheriff's Department said.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — A motorcyclist lost their life on Thursday when they crashed with a sedan in South Orange County, the OC Sheriff's Department reported.

The crash happened just before 7:17 p.m. Thursday in the area of Golden Lantern in Laguna Niguel, authorities said. The incident fatally injured a motorcyclist, whose identity was not immediately released pending next-of-kin notification.

The crash prompted deputies to shut down all southbound lanes on Golden Lantern from Paseo de Colinas to Hidden Hills.

By 9 p.m., the southbound lanes were reopened.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the motorcyclist, and all affected with this tragic incident," the OCSD wrote in a statement. "Thank you to the community for your patience in this matter."
