Dana Point Discusses Homelessness In Community

The city of Dana Point has released findings from their recent survey of area homeless.

DANA POINT, CA — Wondering how your city is working to combat homelessness? A partnership with Mercy House ensures that homeless people in our borders can receive outreach services, the city said.

Homelessness has become a critical focus for many communities across the nation, and Dana Point is no exception. It is the goal of the city to coordinate resources and improve the situation of homeless individuals and families living in the community.

"Through the recent community survey, the City learned responding to the number of homeless in Dana Point is ranked among the most important services the City can provide," officials said on their website.

In 2017, there were 45 homeless people living in or near Dana Point, according to the city. In January of 2019, there were 32 homeless individuals working with community outreach.

Dana Point's Police Services, the Public Works Department and the City Manager’s office coordinate on a daily basis to address the homeless situation.
