Dana Point Woman’s Club Awards Scholarships to 3 DHHS Grads

At its May 4th meeting, DPWC awarded 3 $1,000 scholarships plus a grant of $1,000 to the Library's Children's Summer Reading Program

Dana Point Woman’s Club honored three Dana Hills High School Grads at its May 4th Cinco de Mayo themed meeting. The three students were chosen from a field of very impressive candidates from which three awards of $1,000 each were awarded to Angelina Lopez, Danielle Freedberg and Grace Elizabeth Miller . Members enjoyed hearing from each girl as Club Co-President, Betty Hill interviewed them, discussing their accomplishments and future plans.

At the same meeting, Laura Blasingham, Manager of the Dana Point Branch of the Orange County Public Library, accepted a $1,000 grant toward its renowned Children’s Summer Reading Program.

Members enjoyed a delightful lunch featuring catered Mexican food and a delicious tres leches cake honoring the three grads and their families.

The scholarship committee, comprising Chair Betty Hill, Rita Jones, Kelly Vantrease, Carol Kelly and Nancy Turner (pictured with grads at top left), plus Sheryl Kaner (not pictured) were thrilled to present the awards honoring three extremely worthy candidates. According to Betty Hill, “these students have accomplished so much in their young lives. We were very impressed with their applications, the many recommendation letters accompanying their applications, their great GPAs and their outstanding accomplishments.
