Dana Point Woman’s Club members enjoyed an incredible pot luck tea party last Thursday, complete with a wonderful floral demonstration and a collection of peanut butter donations for the needy. Members met at the philanthropy’s clubhouse, known as “Community House”, located in Dana Point’s Lantern District and built in 1952 to host meetings for the Club and other community organizations.

Following a fun “what’s in your purse?” game, led by Co-1st Vice Presidents Kathy Belanger and Diane Levy, members enjoyed a potluck tea party replete with scones accompanied by clotted cream and preserves, finger sandwiches and salads, followed by delicious homemade mini desserts. The event was curated by talented Club member Shari Horowitz who designed beautiful table and floral arrangements for the event.

Following a scrumptious lunch, members were delighted by a floral demonstration led by Cassie Jerold-Jones of Wildflower florist in Capistrano Beach. Step by step, in an engaging and humorous manner, she took the audience through details of floral preparation,, imparting cutting and placement techniques and tricks of the trade, ultimately producing a beautiful arrangement that was raffled off to members and guests.

The meeting was not all fun and games. Board members presented financial and membership statistics and reported on the philanthropy's recent Fashion Show Fundraiser. Community House President, Barbara Richards introduced new bylaws for Dana Point Women’s Club, Inc., an entity which will result from the unification of Dana Point Woman’s Club and Community House, Inc. effective June 1st, 2023. The intention is to unite management of the building and the Club’s philanthropic efforts in a single corporation to be named Dana Point Women’s Club, Inc., simplifying and streamlining operations and positioning the club for future growth.

In addition, members were asked to bring peanut butter to support the groups FAM (Family Assistance Ministry) food drive, supporting local families who are experiencing food scarcity. Following the meeting, volunteers dropped off a total of 240 pounds of peanut butter to FAM.
