A sold out crowd of 50 Dana Point Women’s Club members and their guests enjoyed a Midsummer Wine Tasting event last Thursday, August 3rd, raising over $1,500 for local philanthropies. The event was held at DPWC’s Clubhouse and event venue, “Community House”, a charming vintage building located in the heart of Dana Point’s Lantern District.

Guests formed teams and sampled and rated 5 wines in a blind tasting, testing their skills and surprising themselves with a lot of inaccurate (and a few accurate) picks. Women’s Club Board members outdid themselves with beautiful hors d’oeuvres plated for each grouping of white and then red wines, followed by a grand finale of delicious chocolate truffles homemade by group Treasurer, Donna Childress. Three beautiful gift baskets were donated by members and raffled off at the event.

Three raffle prizes were won by guests at the event. McKenzie Pfund, at right, presents an Italian basket to winner Donna Childress.

Club President, Kathy Belanger was delighted. “We had so much fun at this event! Our members know how to throw a wonderful party. Everyone had a terrific time with family and friends, and all for a great cause. “ DPWC philanthropies empower South Orange County women, children and families, focusing on literacy, homelessness prevention, hunger and general well being. The Club’s Project Literacy and Project Hunger will be the focus of its next membership meeting, to be held September 7th at 11 AM at Community House.
