Delivery Driver Goes Above And Beyond Amid Heat Wave In Laguna Niguel

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — Not all heroes wear capes — some of them wear purple and black uniforms and drive big box trucks.

Laguna Niguel resident Jeanne Haave learned just that this week, after an unidentified FedEx driver delivered a package to her home despite high heat conditions and road closures.

"My HOA was having asphalt work done — asphalt repairs, crack fill and slurry seal — so my street was closed as were other nearby HOA streets, along with the only road winding throughout our HOA," Haave told Patch. "I was surprised to find a FedEx box at my door from Chewy that afternoon. How did he get here, I wondered."

Haave checked her Ring Home Security System and learned that her driver had carried in the package on-foot in the middle of a hot afternoon.

"That's above and beyond, in my opinion. I didn't expect any deliveries," Haave said. "Obviously he was hot, but he only took a few seconds to break before turning to trek back out to his truck."
